WANT TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN OUR SCHOOL? GET INVOLVED!
When adults volunteer, all students benefit. There are several opportunities throughout the year for parents and community members to get involved including daily lunch volunteers, regular library helpers and special events, fundraisers on ongoing projects.

Volunteer Interest Form
5th Grade Committee - Comprised of 5th grade parent volunteers (with assistance from school administrative assistant) to plan all fundraising and pre-designated activities (end of year picnic, Northwood tour) for the 5th Grade class only.
Birthday Sign Committee - Oversee the ordering, tracking and distribution of Wayne Thomas birthday yard signs.
Book Fair Committee - Coordinate and manage the annual book fair. Parent volunteers run the book fair, including recruiting volunteers to work the event, event set up, purchasing and placing orders.
Bulletin Board Committee - Working in tandem with the front office and utilizing supplies provided by the school, assist in the design and execution of decorating the school main bulletin board. The board is changed monthly and will follow a theme as directed by our administration. (Ex: September = Back to School/Getting to know you, Feb = iRead Challenge, April = Military Child Month, etc.)
Dine & Donate Committee - Coordinate dining event fundraisers and experiences with local restaurants in which a portion of proceeds are returned back to the PTO.
Events Committee - Coordinate PTO family events and fundraisers (Back to School, Fall Family Fest, Trunk or Treat, Bingo Night, Movie Nights, etc.).
Food Days Committee - WT partners with Lunch Solutions to manage our hot lunch restaurant program. The Food Days committee will work closely with Lunch Solutions to plan the restaurant partnership schedule and oversee daily parent volunteers in the lunchroom.
FUNd Run - Promote the 112 Foundation FUNd run in the fall and increase participation of Wayne Thomas students and staff by offering contests/incentives to sign up for the event.
Fundraising Committee - Execute and oversee school-wide and external fundraisers to engage student/community participation, secure advertising from local vendors for the PTO website, support efforts for other potential fundraising opportunities. (Ex: soliciting businesses for sponsorships, managing internal Coin Challenge Fundraiser, etc.)
Green Initiatives Committee - Assist with ongoing efforts to reduce our carbon footprint. Wayne Thomas School is proud to partner with Trex Company to reduce plastic waste. There are 3 Trex plastic bag and wrap collection bins around school (including front vestibule). Committee members help collect, weigh and drop off plastic bag collections once a month. We are also launching a new composting program and committee members will over the collection and sorting process.
Kindergarten Welcoming Committee - Returning parents will act as liaison for incoming Kindergarten families and oversee the incoming kindergarten yard sign and t-shirt orders, assist Principal-directed meet-ups (including playground gatherings and "Cheers & Tears" event on the first day of school), and answer any questions for incoming kindergarten families.
Learning Garden Committee - Maintain (water, prune, plant, etc), promote and fundraise for the Wayne Thomas School Learning Garden, located in the interior courtyard of the school building.
Marquee Committee - Update the outdoor front entrance Marquee Board each month to reflect important dates and reminders. The Marquee coordinator will work closely with the PTO board to ensure all information is accurate. All materials will be supplied.
New Family Welcoming Committee - Contact new families to make them feel welcome to our Wildcat community. These volunteers will be available to answer questions and provide guidance to help make the transition to Wayne Thomas as smooth as possible.
Philanthropy Committee - Coordinate all of Wayne Thomas PTO's Philanthropic partnerships including District 112 Day of Giving, Food Drives with Moraine Township, Book Drives, Fill-A-Heart for Kids, SALT and many more.
Spirit Wear Committee- Coordinate with board-selected vendor to choose spirit wear and oversee the sale and distribution of spirit wear to the Wayne Thomas community.

Teacher/Staff Appreciation Committee - Coordinate appreciation events throughout the year including holiday gifts, luncheons, staff gifts and occasional surprise deliveries (lunch, treats, etc). This committee also runs daily appreciation events each day during Teacher Appreciation Week in May.
Yearbook Committee - Oversee the development of the annual Wayne Thomas yearbook, including publisher/printer relations, design of yearbook pages, coordinate photo collection from staff and parents, take photos at school events, and manage the purchases and distribution of the yearbooks at the end of the year.
